Girl Geek Friendly Event: XP Manchester

In the interest of staying tuned in to what’s happening in the geek community, we’ll be posting details of upcoming local events that our members will be at, and recommending events for other girl geeks to attend. If you’re thinking of coming, please comment on this page – then we can know who’ll be there, and you can find other friendly faces!

XP Manchester

The XP Manchester “Intro to XP” event which was due to run on 13th June has now been rearranged for Thursday 11th July. Everyone who was already signed up should have had an email with the Eventbrite link. There are also tickets available for anyone who wasn’t originally signed up but would like to go. You can get a free ticket here.

This session will be an introduction to Extreme Programming. Despite the name, Extreme Programming is not just for programmers, but covers the whole software development process, so this session will be suitable for anyone working in IT or thinking of working in IT, whether as a programmer, tester, business analyst etc.

There will be Girl Geeks in attendance, and if anyone would like to go and meet up with a Girl Geek beforehand, please send us an email.

I’ll be going to this and will be in Common Bar just opposite Mad Lab from about 6. If anyone else wants to meet up beforehand or find out any more about the event, leave a message here.
Should be an interesting session, there’s usually a good turnout and would be nice to see a few more women attending.

Just to clarify, my previous message about meeting up at Common Bar relates to the meeting in June. The July meeting is at LateRooms (details on the Eventbrite page when you sign up). No plans to meet up beforehand yet, but anyone does want to meet for a drink/food first, let us know.
