Having fully road-tested the maths origami format at previous events at Mini Maker Faire, MOSI and at Jodrell Bank, Katie and the Girl Geeks crew took this fun activity to Manchester Mega Mela at Platts Fields Park on Sunday 26 August.
Due to monsoon-like conditions in July, this event had been postponed for a few weeks, but that didn’t do anything to dampen the spirits of festival goers who flocked to the cultural jamboree.
We had a pitch in the children’s activity area with lots of footfall, and were delighted with the number of young girls (and boys) visiting us.
New volunteers Anna and Becky joined Katie and Zoe to demo origami techniques which could be used to make three-dimensional shapes – a cube or dodecahedron.
One visitor in particular couldn’t get enough of the dodecahedron building – and ended up taking *two* home! See the full gallery below.
